Developing Older Dogs Seminar

Saturday 29th September 2018, 10am

Do you have an older dog and worry about keeping them as fit and healthy as possible as they age?

Are you a trainer looking for ideas for maintaining mental, physical, and emotional health in the older dogs who train with you?

We love the oldies here at Developing Dogs so we’ve put together a day devoted to them. We want to ensure we’re doing the best for our older canine companions so we’ve gathered a fabulous group of speakers to talk all things elderly dogs. The day will highlight latest research for improving quality of life for our older dogs, as well as giving you practical ideas on how to keep them comfortable, happy, and fit as they age. We haven’t forgotten the human element too.

Speakers include:
Pam Mckinnon – Talking Dogs Scentwork – discussing scentwork and it’s benefits for older dogs
Nicola Wreford – Galen Myotherapy – with help for keeping older dogs mobile and supple
Sally Talbot – Talking Dogs Scentwork accredited trainer, Yoga Teacher – talking about the human side of facing the loss of an older dog and the practicalities of what to do, what your options are.
Sian Ryan – Developing Dogs – emotional support for older dogs, brain games and the importance of mental stimulation.
Plus more speakers yet to be announced.

This is a seminar without practical sessions but your older dogs are welcome to join you in the training barn as long as they are happy to relax around people and other dogs. The barn is warm and comfortable and there will be space for walks during break times.

Refreshments provided, but please bring your own lunch. There is a fridge and microwave available.
